We’re on to the single digit countdown now!! T-9 weeks until the big due date!! Oh I’m looking tired in my photos this week..looking forward to the end!
What Baby Is Up To:
“Your baby’s arms, legs and body continue to fill out — and they are finally proportional in size to her head. She weighs about 3.3 pounds/1.5 kilograms and looks more like a newborn. She measures about 16 inches/ 41 centimetres from crown to toe.
You may notice your baby isn’t moving around as much. Don’t worry; she’s just running out of space in your uterus. As long as you can feel her squirming, you’ll know she’s just fine. Believe it or not, she still has plenty of growing to do. You can expect her to gain at least two more pounds/900 grams before delivery.
Your baby’s organs are continuing to mature and she is passing water from her bladder: good practice for the urinating she’ll do after she’s born. Soon you can wonder what your baby is wishing for — brain scans have shown that fetuses have periods of dream sleep around month eight.
You’ve probably gained three to four pounds / 1.3 to 1.8 kilograms this month. Gaining a pound/450 grams a week is quite normal during the last trimester as your baby has a final growth spurt before birth.” From Baby Center
How I Am Feeling:
Have I mentioned lately that I feel tired a lot?? 😉 The exhaustion that I felt in the first trimester has definitely started to creep up on my again. I blame that partly on my broken sleeps and partly on this extra weight that I’ve been carrying around. I give kudos to all women who have gone through pregnancy because I never realized how much the extra weight would have affected me! I hate sounding like I’m complaining, but damn! My belly just feels SO heavy all the time now and I feel an almost constant pull on my back. I get out of breath SO easily these days and for someone who used to be SO fit, it’s been a pretty hard pill to swallow. Example: simply grooming my horse gets me breathing heavy! It sucks… but again, I hate complaining because it’s all going to be totally worth it in the end when I have my girl in my arms!
How My Body Is Changing:
Although I don’t notice it so much in the photos, a few of my coworkers swear that my belly popped out again in the past week. I’m also beginning to get a very faint linea nigra on my belly – a faint dark line has begun to appear down the center of my belly from top to bottom. It’s perfectly normal and thankfully should disappear after baby girl’s born.
And because I’ve worn this top in a photo already….here’s a fun 7 week comparison. 😉
Weight Gained: 1 lb in the past week, making it 22 lbs so far — (starting = 122.8 lbs/current = 144.8 lbs)
Food Cravings: Really wanted a Shamrock Shake. Had one Saturday and it was awesome. 😉
Food Likes/Dislikes: I’ve actually been eating fish again! Just white fish though.. still not wanting anything to do with salmon unless it’s canned on a sandwich.
Baby Items Purchased This Week: Just a bar for baby’s closet and some more paint. 😉 It’s REALLY hard to hold off buying anything else, but we’re trying to wait until after the showers to see what we really need.
Clothes For Me: No new clothes for me, but I will have to hit up the stores again soon for a shower outfit! I am very lucky to be getting 2 baby showers – 1 at my mom’s and 1 at my mother-in-laws’. I already have a nice springy maxi dress to wear to one, but need to figure out what to wear to the other!
Workouts/Activity This Week: Spent a good time at the farm on Friday to groom and lunge Chelsea. As I mentioned above, grooming gets be breathing heavy these days to maybe I should start counting that as part of a workout?! LOL
Sleep: Long gone are the days where I wake up actually feeling rested. No matter when I go to bed, my body seems to be on the schedule of getting up around 12:30 and 3:30 for pee breaks… so needless to say, when the alarm goes off at 5:53, I am not a happy camper. As for being comfortable, I now have to sleep with a normal pillow between my legs that also props up just the bottom of my belly (if it’s too high, I feel it crushing my lungs) along with hugging a smaller pillow between my arms. Although it served its purpose in the early days, at this point, I don’t think my body pillow will be making its way back into my bed.
Movements: It is the daily squirms and movements that just make all the crappy parts of pregnancy SOOO worth it!!! Our girl tends to squirm around a lot and REALLY likes to press her little butt out! haha If I am sitting or standing the right way, you can actually see a nice little round bump sticking out. I also think I’m baking a little foodie just like her mom and dad because she squirms around pretty much every time I eat now. It’s awesome!
Appointments: Our next check-up is this Thursday. I am supposed to be having blood work done to test my iron levels at this appointment. It’s a routine check which I’m not worried about in the least. I will actually be shocked if my iron levels are low!!
Nursery Progress: I had booked last Friday off of work to start refinishing the dresser. After 2 coats of paint though, it’s still not 100% done yet, so you’ll have to wait to see it. 😉 Baseboards also got painted this weekend and the closet bar was installed. We only need to get the door painted and the caulking done above all the baseboards then we can start the fun part — decorating!! In case you didn’t see it via twitter or the FB page this weekend, I couldn’t help but snap this photo…
